Microsoft Outlook 2000 - Adding new E-mail account
 
Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook 2000, click on the Tools menu and choose Accounts .

The Internet Account dialog box will be displayed. In the dialog box click on the Add button and choose Mail .

The Internet Connection Wizard dialog box will be displayed. In the first screen enter your name in the Display name area. Press the Next button to continue.

Enter the e-mail address provided by PowerNet. (e.g. bigjohn@powernethk.com)

At the next screen of E-mail Server Names, make sure you choose POP3 as the incoming mail server. In the Incoming mail server field and the outgoing server field enter mx.powernethk.com.

Press the Next button after you have finished entering the information.

Step 6

In this screen enter your account (login) name and login password given to you by our company into the Account name field. Choose Remember password so that you don't have to enter your password everytime you check for email.

Select "Connect using my phone line" when using 56K dial-up.
Selext "Connect using my local area network(LAN)" when using Broadband.

Select the existing dialup connection which you are using and then finish.

To configure SMTP AUTH in Outlook, first select item "Accounts..." in the "Tools" menu as shown on the picture below.

Next, a window of accounts appears. Select the "Mail" tab and then select your mail account and press the "Properties" button.

Select the "Servers" tab on the next window that appears. Enter mx.powernethk.com in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" field. Then select "My server requires authentication" and press the "Settings" button.

Make sure your Account name is username@domain.com and choose "My server requires authentication".

A window label "Outgoing Mail Server" will pop up next.  If you are using mx.powernethk.com as your incoming mail server, check "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"  as shown below.   Otherwise, check "Log on using" and put in your incoming mail server Account Name and Password.  Do not select "Log on using Secure Password Authentication". Hit "OK" to save these changes.
